Reading Help
Many of the biographies on Memorial Archive are written in Malayalam. This page explains how to make sure they display correctly in your browser.
- Memorial Archive uses Unicode to encode Malayalam pages. If you do not see Malayalam letters at all, you may need a Malayalam Unicode font. Click here to find the best options for various platforms.
- If you see Malayalam letters but there are too many spelling mistakes, your browser is probably not set up for Indic scripts. Please see "Setting up your browser for Indic scripts".
This site loads the Noto Sans Malayalam and Noto Serif Malayalam web fonts automatically, so most modern browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) will display Malayalam text correctly without any extra setup. On each memorial page, use the English / Malayalam toggle above a section to switch languages where both are available.
New: Dark / Light mode. Use the sun/moon toggle in the top-right of the header to switch between a light and a dark reading theme. Since Memorial Archive is primarily a reading site, dark mode reduces glare and eye strain when reading longer biographies at night or in low light, while light mode keeps text crisp and easy to read in bright surroundings. Your choice is remembered automatically, so the site opens in the same theme the next time you visit.
